Fraud accused cop released

Lydenburg, Limpopo - A Limpopo police constable accused of fraudulent use of a police petrol card was released on a warning by the Lydenburg Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Constable Casuais Shai, 31, appeared with petrol attendant Shadrack Masuku, of Kgautswane village in Leboeng on a charge of corruption, said Lt-Col Mohale Ramatseba.

“They were accused of 'buying' R584.43 worth of petrol for a private car at Origstad filling station and sharing the money among themselves,” she said.

Both were released with a warning and were expected to be back in court on September 13.
