Johannesburg – Cricket SA (CSA) has concluded a deal with the SABC to broadcast the upcoming international tour against Pakistan, but there will be no live broadcast of the Test series.

“Although we could not reach an agreement on live ball-by-ball coverage of the Sunfoil Test Series, we are satisfied that there is an increase in coverage compared to the New Zealand series,” CSA commercial manager Marc Jury said in a statement on Thursday.

“With the Pakistan series being the last home international series of the 2012/2013 season, we will definitely be looking at how best to manage our free-to-air broadcast rights going forward, to ensure that all South Africans are able to watch the Proteas when playing at home.”

The agreement was similar to that of the recent New Zealand series.

The three Test matches will not be broadcast live, while the T20 series and one-day international series will have ball-by-ball coverage.

Fans will, however, see an increase in coverage of the Test series.

SABC will show two blocks of footage on a daily basis during the series.

This will comprise a broadcast in the afternoon which will contain a mixture of highlights and live coverage.

There will also be an extensive highlights package in the evening. Over and above this, there will also be live crossings on SABC 3 during the day for updates, CSA said. – Sapa
