ANCYL leader yet to plead: NPA
Durban - An ANC Youth League leader arrested in connection with the murder of two ANC branch leaders has not pleaded, the National Prosecuting Authority said on Thursday.
NPA spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson said Sifiso Khumalo appeared in the Port Shepstone Regional Court on Wednesday, but there had been no plea in court.
Khumalo, 31, was arrested on Monday in connection with the murders of Bheki Chiliza and Dumisani Malunga.
Khumalo appeared alongside Samuel Cele, 34. They would be back on September 19, Ramkisson said .
On Wednesday evening, the ANC's Lower South Coast regional secretary Mzwandile Mkhwanazi said Khumalo had pleaded guilty to murder in the Port Shepstone Magistrate's Court.
Chiliza was Oshabeni branch secretary and Malunga was branch chairman.
Malunga, 42, and Chiliza, 39, were shot dead while driving home from an ANC meeting in the Oshabeni area. - Sapa
