KwaZulu-Natal - Video evidence of the conversations Dave Williams had with a “hit man” – an undercover police agent – about his wife was played in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court on Wednesday.

In one snippet, Williams can be heard saying: “The sooner this gets done the better, because, hey, she is driving me up the wall, I promise you. Divorce is not the solution, because everything gets shared. If she’s gone… the house… everything is mine.”

Williams, 51, is charged with conspiracy to kill his wife, Vino.

“I need it done as soon as possible. I need this woman out of my life… finished, that’s it… I’ve had enough of her for 21 years. I just want out of it,” was another snippet.

Williams was also recorded as saying: “She is so lazy. She sits and watches TV, then the next minute she shouts ‘Dave!’ because she wants the remote. The remote is there… but she can’t even stretch to pick it up. She is Indian and I am white, our daughter is half-and-half so there is a white-Indian conflict. Indians are very conservative in their dressing but my child likes to wear shorts. My daughter is more white than Indian. I’ve just had enough. She controls everything. I want her gone as soon as possible.”

The State alleges that Williams conspired to poison his wife between September 26, and October 4.

Williams has pleaded not guilty.

The State alleges that Williams approached Xolani Madladla, a long-time friend, to kill his wife.

Madladla contacted the police and Williams was then the subject of a sting operation by members of the organised crime unit. - Daily News
